Page 1 of 3 | | | | The computer science department runs university affiliated courses of B.Sc.(Computer Science), M.Sc. (Computer Science) and MCA under science. The four departments, which conduct these courses, are Computer Science, Electronics, Mathematics and Statistics.
All these departments are taking efforts in achieving academic excellence. The efforts gave fruits in the form of distinction holders in B.Sc.(Computer Science). The results of M.Sc. (Computer Science) & MCA are also outstanding. This also had positive effects on the admission of current year. 160 students have been admitted in F.Y.B.Sc.(Computer Science) class and many students had to be refused admission. Also, number of students have been admitted to full capacity in post graduate classes.
Due to increase in students strength, the infrastructure facilities have been updated. All the laboratories are equipped with additional equipment. 40 new computers with latest technology have been included in Computer laboratory. An additional lab for MCA has been established.
In the current year, the syllabi for various courses have been revised. Taking this into consideration, many books of related topics have been purchased in the college library.
Qualified and experienced faculty runs all the courses. In additional there are visiting faculty members from academic field and IT industry eg. Persistent System Pvt. Ltd., NIC, WIPRO etc.
Teaching methods were improvised, by using visual aids for some subjects. The department also undertakes placement activities Some companies visit the college and some are conducted off campus. Two of our college students have been placed at INFOSYS.
During the previous academic year, the department organized an exhibition on “Computer Awareness”. This exhibition got tremendous response. It had exhibits for computer hardware and different types of software. It was open to all the students of the college and school.
The other activities are seminars conducted in different subjects in under graduate classes. The seminars helped in improving the communication skill and confidence apart from their subject knowledge. Students of some classes have also taken initiative in organizing excursion.
Some highlighting features incorporated in these two years are software for library managements has been developed by department students and is been used effectively and efficiently. Efforts are on to create a college website. This website has all the details of courses available in the college.
The department has broadband Internet facility. This is available for all the post graduate students of the department and all the staff members of the college. Work on extensive measures is carried out with the help of ETH to connect the college to PDEA through DIGITAL CAMPUS.
In short, the department has a team of hardworking staff members, all of whom are taking efforts in improving the academic standards of the department. |
